NEW NRA Trainer Rating Credential Fee Structure! These fees are paid directly to the NRA and are not included in any fees paid to us!
Of the courses we are offering, NRA Credentialing fees apply to RI, PI, RSO, CRSO PPOHI, PPIHI, CCWI, RC, PC, HPRC (see below for acronyms) and any other NRA Instructor certification. NRA members will pay $40.00 to the NRA for the first rating and then $20.00 to the NRA for each additional rating. Non-NRA members will pay $175.00 to the NRA for the first rating and then $40.00 to the NRA for each additional rating. These fees are paid by each candidate directly to the NRA. These fees are not included in the fees paid to HPCC to attend these courses.

NOTE 1: Successfully completing a Basic class with a qualifying live fire score (see below for live fire requirements) is a prerequisite for attending any corresponding Instructor class! NOTE 2: While the NRA governs Coach Training, all three of the biggest competitive marksmanship programs recognize the Coach certificate earned through NRA training; they are the National Rifle Association (NRA), USA Shooting, and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)! The rifle series consists of BR, RSO, BIT, RI and RC.
The total fee for the rifle series including all five classes will be discounted from $1,346.00 to $1,199.00 for candidates who complete the full series. This amount will include student books and materials and one two-hour session at a local range to accomplish any live fire requirements. The fee paid to HPCC will not cover any fees due to NRA to complete each candidate’s credentialling registration as an instructor, RSO, CRSO, or Coach. These fees are paid to NRA. FYI, we also offer NRA/USA Shooting/CMP Level 1 High Power Rifle Coach, but this is not currently figured in with this schedule. NOTE 4: HPCC has a minimum number of candidates required to put on any class. Also, NRA requires a minimum of four candidates to conduct any Instructor class or CRSO class.
The deposit for each series will be due once a series has the minimum number of registered candidates. Please do not make any payments, or deposits until we call you. However, registration for each series will close no later than 4 weeks prior to the series start date. If by the registration close date, the series does not have enough candidates, the series will be cancelled, or rescheduled to a later timeframe, and no deposits will be collected. HPCC will always refund any fees collected on the rare occasion where we are forced to cancel a class. Refunds are not offered for no-show candidates. Reschedules can sometimes be offered if requested far enough in advance. However, we cannot guarantee they will be offered in the same location without being rescheduled to several months later. Candidates can pick and choose classes to sign up for without signing up for a full series, but those candidates will be charged the NRA website advertised price as listed above for each of those classes, and they will be charged the NRA website deposit for each of those classes; those deposits will be subject to the same refund restrictions as the rest of the series. Regardless of how many candidates sign up for individual classes, HPCC will need a minimum number of candidates for each class in a series to conduct any of the classes, with some exceptions. The fee for each basic class includes one session lasting two hours of live fire range time and coaching; this is when the NRA live fire qualification for each series will be attempted. Candidates should bring a .22 rifle with open, or iron sights and sufficient ammunition to fire the required qualification for the rifle series of classes. Center fire rifles with open, or iron sights are allowed, but rimfire is suggested. Candidates should bring a .22 caliber pistol with open, or iron sights and sufficient ammunition to fire the required qualification for the pistol series of classes. Center fire pistols with open, or iron sights are allowed, but rimfire is suggested. NRA allows optics, but we do not allow optics. Call us to discuss why we only allow iron, or open sights and why that could be a significant advantage to you. All firearms and ammunition must meet the approval of the HPCC training team. HPCC will bring loaner 22. rifles and .22 pistols that are conducive to this type of live fire qualification. You provide your ammo. NRA has live fire prequalification requirements for each Instructor course. The live fire might be conducted in the evening after classroom training, so those days could be a little longer than the scheduled 9:00 am to 5:00 pm class days; please plan accordingly. NOTE 5: This is not exact, but in general the prequals look like this: Pistol Instructor candidates, among other requirements, will need to be able to shoot a twenty shot, slow fire, six-inch group at fifteen yards, standing, unsupported, with open or iron sights, no optics, using as many hands as you would like.
Rifle Instructor candidates, among other requirements, will need to be able to shoot a ten shot, slow fire, four and a half-inch group at twenty-five yards, in bench rest, in prone and in standing unsupported, with open or iron sights, no optics, using as many hands as you would like, for a total of 30 rounds.
Other requirements are things like demonstrating impeccable firearm safety standards while handling firearms and simulators. Each course also has a written evaluation.
We will bring loaner .22 pistols and loaner .22 rifles that are very conducive to this style of qualification. You provide the ammo. NOTE 6: If for any reason you currently have any trouble shooting these qualifications, do not worry! You are hiring us to train you to be able to shoot these qualifications if you attend any of our basic classes. You are hiring us to train you to be able to teach others to be able to shoot these qualifications if you attend any of our instructor classes! While we cannot guarantee you will be able to shoot the mandatory prequalification courses of fire after our instruction, nor do we offer any money back if we are unable to teach you how to shoot these qualifications, we are highly successful at teaching candidates to be able to shoot these qualifications! If you do it the way we will train you, the way the NRA wants us to train you, you should be fine! Remember this, how crappy of a shot does someone need to be before we say maybe that someone should not be teaching others how to shoot? Without meaning to offend anyone, the requirements listed in NOTE 5 are not competitive requirements. I have teenage male and female marksmen in our shooting club (see High Plains Marksmanship Academy) who shoot far above these qualifications. They do this using the same methods and fundamentals we will be talking about. Go to the range and see if you can currently shoot at the level of these quals, or better. If you are having any difficulty at all, come to class with an open mind and we will do our best to help you make it happen! We are very proud of our track record of getting people able to shoot these qualifications. NOTE 7: Candidates are urged to bring lunch, drinks, snacks and a cooler each day. Lunchtime each day will be a working lunch to maximize class time productivity. Here is a question for you. If we have ten candidates in a class, and we give everyone from noon till 1:00 pm for lunch, how many of the ten will not make it back until sometime long after 1:00? Besides that, we would have to start an hour earlier to make up for the lunch hour. Each candidate will be responsible for cleaning up after themselves. Any candidate who wishes to bring a smoker, and who can properly smoke a moist brisket for all of us in the class to enjoy, oh who am I kidding, as long as they can provide this for the instructors, will receive extra points on all evaluations!
As more candidates register for and pay for an individual class, or classes, or series of classes, the total fee for that class, the classes, or the series of classes may be reduced incrementally for each candidate.
Unfortunately, the NRA website does not allow one registration to enroll a candidate in multiple classes. Candidates will need to register for each individual class. Note 8: If you are an NRA member, your class registration information must match your NRA membership information exactly, such as name, address, phone number and NRA membership number, except for any zeros at the very beginning of your NRA membership number.
