HIGH PLAINS CONCEALED CARRY (HPCC) IS PRESENTING A HUGE SERIES OF COURSES IN HELENA, MT IN JUNE 2027!
Page revised 20260624 2000 hrs Contact us to discuss scheduling a custom series of courses at your location! PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE PAGE BEFORE REGISTERING FOR ANY COURSES.
NOTE 1: NEW NRA Trainer Rating Credential Fee Structure. These fees are paid directly to the NRA and are not included in any fees paid to us!
Of the courses we are offering, NRA Credentialing fees apply to RI, PI, RSO, CRSO PPOHI, PPIHI, CCWI, RC, PC, HPRC (see below for acronyms) and any other NRA Instructor certification. NRA members will pay $40.00 to the NRA for the first rating and then $20.00 to the NRA for each additional rating. Non-NRA members will pay $175.00 to the NRA for the first rating and then $40.00 to the NRA for each additional rating. These fees are paid by each candidate directly to the NRA. These fees are not included in the fees paid to HPCC to attend these courses.
Some ratings these fees apply to are: Any Instructor rating, any Coach rating, Range Safety Officer (RSO) and Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO). Call us at least one week prior to registering for any courses if you are wanting to join the NRA. It takes a few days for the NRA to issue you a membership number and you must register for any courses with your NRA membership number, or the NRA will want to charge you $175.00 for your first certificate!
Feel free to contact us to discuss scheduling a custom series of courses at your location! Our goal when we travel from Clovis, NM, is to offer training as affordably as possible for our candidates. Obviously, the more candidates in a course, the more affordably we can offer these courses. The fees we charge for training can be slashed by 40 or 50% with enough candidates who register for, pay for and attend the training! Our goal each time we present courses is to cover our travel and expenses with some leftover to allow our instructor corps to enjoy the location while we are in town. We do not need to make a huge profit when we offer this training. When more students register for, pay for, and attend these courses, we will are able to offer more and bigger discounts. Please do not pay any deposits until we call you and advise you of the final price and ask for the deposit. We charge a 3% fee for all credit card, or debit card payments. NOTE 2: Lunch each day will be a working lunch to maximize course time productivity. Candidates are urged to bring lunch, drinks, snacks, and a cooler each day. Unless you bring your mom with you, each candidate will be responsible for cleaning up after themselves.
NOTE 3: Successfully completing a basic course with a qualifying live fire score (see below for live fire requirements) is a prerequisite for attending any corresponding Instructor course! For example, completing Basic Pistol at Level 4 is a prerequisite for attending Pistol Instructor. Also being qualified as a Basic Pistol Instructor is a prerequisite for attending the more advanced instructor courses. Other restrictions apply. Call us 575-985-5555 or see below for more information.
NOTE 4: If you are an NRA member, your course registration information must match your NRA membership information exactly, except for the three zeros that might be at the beginning of your NRA membership number; DO NOT USE THE THREE ZEROS at the beginning of your NRA Membership Number. Your name, address and phone number should match your NRA membership profile.
NOTE 5: Do not register for a course without using your NRA membership number unless you are OK paying the much higher credential registration fees to the NRA. Call us to join the NRA if you are not a member. Please call us at least one week before registering for any courses, as it takes a few days for the NRA to issue an actual membership number.
NOTE 6: Unfortunately, the NRA website does not allow one registration to enroll a candidate in multiple courses. Candidates will need to register for each individual course. PLEASE READ THIS FULL PAGE BEFOR REGISTERING FOR ANY COURSES. WE KNOW WE WROTE THIS TWICE. WE ARE OFFERING A TOTAL OF SEVENTEEN COURSES. THE TOTAL FEE PAYABLE TO HPCC (excluding NRA credentialing fees payable directly to the NRA) FOR ALL SEVENTEEN COURSES IS $6,784.00. HPCC WILL DISCOUNT THIS TOTAL TO $5,799.00 FOR ANYONE WHO TAKES ALL SEVENTEEN COURSES!

NOTE 7: HPCC has a minimum number of candidates required to put on any course. Also, NRA requires a minimum of four candidates to conduct any Instructor course or CRSO course.
The deposit for each series will be due once a series has the minimum number of registered candidates. Please do not make any payments or deposits until we call you. However, registration for each series will close no later than 4 weeks prior to the series start date. If by the registration close date, the series does not have enough candidates, the series will be cancelled, or rescheduled to a later time, and no deposits will be collected. A 3% fee will be added to any course tuition for credit or debit card purchases.
HPCC will always refund any fees collected on the rare occasion where we are forced to cancel a course. Refunds are not offered for no-show candidates. Substitutions may be allowed upon approval of our instructors if requested at least 72 hours prior to the course start. Reschedules can sometimes be offered if requested far enough in advance. However, we cannot guarantee they will be offered in the same location.
Candidates can pick and choose courses to sign up for without signing up for a full series, but those candidates will be charged the NRA website price as listed on this page for each of those courses, and they will be charged the NRA website deposit for each of those courses; those deposits will be subject to the same refund restrictions as the rest of the series. Regardless of how many candidates sign up for individual courses, HPCC will need a minimum number of candidates for each course in a series to conduct any of the courses, with some exceptions. Contact us for exceptions.
NOTE 8: NRA student materials are included with the fee for each course, or series of courses and will be provided to each candidate. The fee for each basic course includes one session lasting from two hours up to 6 hours, depending on the course requirements, for live fire range time and coaching. This is when the NRA live fire qualification for each series will be attempted. Any candidate requiring additional range time, or range days to shoot the NRA-required qualification will be responsible for paying any additional range fees.
NOTE 9: Candidates should bring a .22 rifle with open, or iron sights and sufficient ammunition to fire the required qualification for the Basic Rifle Course and for the Rifle Instructor course. Center fire rifles with open, or iron sights are allowed, but rimfire is suggested. HPCC will bring loaner rifles for the .22 qualifications that are very conducive to these courses of fire, you supply your .22 ammo.
NOTE 10: Candidates should bring a .22 caliber pistol with open, or iron sights and sufficient ammunition to fire the required qualification for the Basic Pistol course and for the Pistol Instructor course. Center fire pistols with open, or iron sights are allowed, but rimfire is suggested for the Basic courses. HPCC will bring loaner pistols for the .22 qualifications that are very conducive to these courses of fire, you supply your .22 ammo.
NOTE 11: Centerfire is required for the more advanced courses. Candidates will bring a centerfire pistol with open or iron sights and sufficient ammunition to fire the advanced courses of fire. HPCC does not provide loaner centerfire firearms.
NOTE 12: NRA allows optics, but we do not allow optics. Call us (575-985-5555) to discuss why we strongly suggest iron, or open sights and why that could be a significant advantage to you.
NRA has live fire prequalification requirements or live fire qualifications for most courses. The live fire will sometimes be conducted in the evening after classroom training, those days may be a little longer than the scheduled course days; please plan accordingly. Otherwise, live fire will be conducted during the course day, and we will all return to the classroom afterwards and continue with the academics.
NOT 13: This is not exact, but in general the .22 BP and BR prequals look like this:
Pistol Instructor candidates, among other requirements, will need to be able to shoot a twenty shot, slow fire, six-inch group at fifteen yards, standing, unsupported, with open or iron sights, no optics, using as many hands as you would like.
Rifle Instructor candidates, among other requirements, will need to be able to shoot a ten shot, slow fire, four and a half-inch group at twenty-five yards, in bench rest, in prone and in standing unsupported, with open or iron sights, no optics, using as many hands as you would like, for a total of 30 rounds.
Other requirements are things like demonstrating impeccable firearm safety standards while handling firearms and simulators. Each course also has a written evaluation.
We will bring loaner .22 pistols and loaner .22 rifles that are very conducive to this style of qualification, or you can bring a firearm. You provide the ammo. Each course also has a written evaluation.
If for any reason you currently have any trouble shooting these qualifications, do not worry! You are hiring us to train you to be able to shoot these qualifications if you attend any of our basic courses. You are hiring us to train you to be able to teach others to be able to shoot these qualifications if you attend any of our instructor courses! While we cannot guarantee you will be able to shoot the mandatory prequalification courses of fire after our instruction, nor do we offer any money back if we are unable to teach you how to shoot these qualifications, we are highly successful at teaching candidates to be able to shoot these qualifications! If you do it the way we will train you, the way the NRA wants us to train you, you should be fine!
Go to the range and see if you can currently shoot at the level of these quals, or better. If you are having any difficulty at all, come to course with an open mind and we will do our best to help you make it happen! We are very proud of our track record of getting people able to shoot these qualifications. We are also very proud of our track record of taking shooters who are highly accomplished marksmen and decreasing their group sizes too!
Contact us at O 575-985-5555, or C 413-626-7778, or training@highplainsconcealedcarry.com to discuss preparing for each shooting qualification, and to answer any questions regarding allowed firearms.
NOTE 14: Candidates are urged to bring lunch, drinks, snacks, and a cooler each day. Lunchtime each day will be a working lunch to maximize course time productivity. Here is a question for you. If we have ten candidates in a course, and we give everyone lunch from noon till 1:00 pm, how many of the ten will not make it back until sometime long after 1:00? Besides that, we would have to start an hour earlier each day to make up for the lunch hour. Any candidate who wishes to bring a smoker, and who can properly smoke a moist brisket for all of us in the course to enjoy, oh who am I kidding, as long as they can provide this for the instructors, will receive extra points on all evaluations!
As more candidates register for and pay for an individual course, or courses, or series of courses, the total fee for that course, the courses, or the series of courses may be reduced incrementally for every candidate.
NOTE 15: When you register for the Rifle Instructor course, you must print Appendix 3, found on the registration page for that course. You must bring this appendix with you to the training to be completed by you and by us during the course. We suggest you put it in a ring binder with room for additional materials.
NOTE 16: When you register for the Pistol Instructor course, you must print Appendix 5, found on the registration page for that course. You must bring this appendix with you to the training to be completed by you and by us during the course. We suggest you put it in a ring binder with room for additional materials.
NOTE 17: Before registering for any courses, click on the HOME link at the top and see the page about OUR TRAINING TEAM to know what movies you need to watch before attending any of our courses; that is if you want to get any of the HPCC instructor's movie quotes and references! YOU WILL BE GIVEN A QUIZ ON THESE MOVIES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE COURSE! This quiz will be pass/fail. Candidates who fail this quiz will be expelled from all courses without receiving any refunds! That's right, we said it!
Feel free to contact us at O 575-985-5555, C 413-626-7778, or training@highplainsconcealedcarry.com to discuss any of the above.
