To become a CCW Instructor in New Mexico, you must first become a Pistol Instructor through an organization recognized by the State of NM. The National Rifle Association (NRA) is the largest, and the oldest in the US and is recognized by the state of NM, as well as all the other states we are aware of.
Candidates are urged to bring lunch, drinks, snacks and a cooler each day. Lunch each day will be a working lunch to maximize class time productivity. Bring your mother with you or be prepared to clean up after yourself.
The process through High Plains Concealed Carry, LLP (HPCC) in Clovis, NM looks like this. The following will make you an NRA Basic Pistol Instructor, so you can advertise and teach NRA Basic Pistol and a few other classes. Plus, it will qualify you to apply to the state to become a CCW Instructor.
Step 1. Successfully complete the NRA Pasic Pistol course (a prerequisite for the instructor class). This is a one-day class plus the mandatory live fire. We offer this class for an individual for $249.00. More students in a class equals a lower fee for each student. Step 2. Successfully complete NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) course. This is a one-day class we offer for an individual for $249.00. More students in a class equals a lower fee for each student. This fee covers candidate books and materials. This fee does not include the fee to NRA to register your certificate; this fee is significantly less for NRA members. Call us about that, 575-985-5555. This class does not have a live fire component. Firearms and ammunition are not needed for this class. More students in a class equals a lower fee per student. RSO is not mandated by the state, but we highly suggested it.

NRA Pistol Instructor is usually presented along with BIT. These two classes together take between two and three training days to present including the mandatory live fire. Taking three training days to complete both of these classes will help make sure the candidate gets the maximum advantage from the learning process, and the most for their money. However, this set of two classes can be accomplished in two longer training days. NRA Instructor classes require a minimum of four candidates per class due to the NRA Instructor training curriculum's construction and design. Contact us for scheduling information. HPCC is frequently able to schedule a class in the near future that will accommodate your desired schedule, and that will allow enough time to possibly attract enough other candidates to meet the NRA minimum required students. Because all NRA Instructor courses require a minimum of four students, the fee per student is only $349.00. If we have more than four students, the fee is reduced incrementally per student. For example, if we have eight students in a class, the fee could be reduced to as little as $199.00 per student. This fee includes all the student materials and books. This fee does not include firearms or ammunition. This fee does not include the fee paid to NRA to register your certificate. NOTE: New NRA Trainer Credential Fee Structure.
