Our goal when we travel from Clovis, NM to offer training is to do that as affordably as possible for our students. Obviously, the more students in a class, the more affordably we can offer these courses. Our goal each time we do this is to cover our expenses and have a little left over so our Instructor Cadre can enjoy the local while we are in town. We do not need to make a huge profit.
High Plains Concealed Carry (HPCC) is offering two series of courses in September 2026, in Ithaca, NY. One series will be for pistol, and one series will be for rifle.

The total fee for this pistol series will be discounted from $897.00 to $799.00. The rifle series consists of NRA Basic Rifle, NRA Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO), NRA Basic Instructor Training, NRA Rifle Instructor and NRA/USA Shooting/CMP Level 1 Rifle Coach. These fees are usually payable to the NRA every two years. NRA Trainer Credential Fee Structure. Credentialing fees Members: $40, Non-Member: $175. Additional Rating Activation feeMember: $20, Non-Member: $40.
HPCC requires a minimum of six registered candidates who have paid the course deposit to conduct either series of courses. HPCC is limiting each course to a maximum of twelve candidates.
The deposit for each course will be due once a course has a minimum of six candidates registered. However, registration for each series will close no later than four weeks prior to the series start date. If by the registration close date, the series does not have six registered candidates per course, the series will be rescheduled to a later date, and no deposits will be collected. Other candidates can sign up for classes without signing up for the full series, but those candidates will be charged the NRA website price for each of those specific classes, and they will be charged the NRA website deposit for each specific class; those deposits will be subject to the same refund restrictions of the rest of the series. Regardless of how many candidates sign up for individual courses, HPCC will need a minimum of six candidates for each course in a series to put the series on, with some exceptions. Contact us for exceptions. 575-985-5555.
When each series has six registered candidates, the deposit for each series will be due. The deposit will be $400.00 per candidate for the Pistol courses and $600.00 for the Rifle courses and will only be refundable if the series is cancelled by HPCC due to extreme circumstances, or other reasons the HPCC training team deems the classes should be cancelled. The remaining balance will be collected on the morning of the first day of each series. Refunds are not offered to no-shows.
NRA student materials are included with the fee for courses and will be provided to each candidate. The fee for courses includes one session lasting two hours of live fire range time and coaching; this is when the NRA live fire qualification for each series will be attempted. Any candidate requiring additional range time, or range days to shoot the NRA required qualification will be responsible for paying any additional range fees and will be required to provide any additional ammunition needed to qualify.
Candidates should bring a .22 rifle and sufficient ammunition to fire the required qualification for the rifle series of courses. Candidates should bring a .22 caliber pistol and sufficient ammunition to fire the required qualification for the pistol series of courses. All firearms and ammunition must meet the approval of the HPCC training team. Loaner firearms will be available. Contact us at O 575-985-5555, C 413-626-7778, or training@highplainsconcealedcarry.com to discuss preparing for each shooting qualification, and to answer any questions regarding allowed firearms. This is not exact, but in general the prequals look like this:
Pistol Instructor candidates, among other requirements, will need to be able to shoot a twenty shot, slow fire, six-inch group at fifteen yards, standing, unsupported, with open or iron sights, no optics, using as many hands as you would like.
Rifle Instructor candidates, among other requirements, will need to be able to shoot a ten shot, slow fire, four and a half-inch group at twenty-five yards, in bench rest, in prone and in standing unsupported, with open or iron sights, no optics, using as many hands as you would like, for a total of 30 rounds.
Other requirements are things like demonstrating impeccable firearm safety standards while handling firearms and simulators. Each course also has a written evaluation.
We will bring loaner .22 pistols and loaner .22 rifles that are very conducive to this style of qualification. You provide the ammo.
Candidates are urged to bring lunch, drinks, snacks and a cooler each day. Lunch each day will be a working lunch to maximize class time productivity.
Unfortunately, the NRA website does not allow one registration to enroll a candidate in multiple courses.Candidates will need to register for each individual class in the desired series. Your class registration information must match your NRA membership information exactly, such as name, address, phone number, NRA membership number; do not use the three zeros that may be at the beginning of your NRA membership number. Note, Basic Instructor Training is included with the Rifle Instructor course and with the Pistol Instructor course. Any candidate who is taking all the courses may assist with the second day of BIT.
